Magnesium Chloride

Dead Sea Works LTD operates the world’s largest production of solid magnesium chloride. Each liter of Dead Sea water contains approx. 170 grams of magnesium chloride. Utilizing the abundance of solar energy available in this unique geological location, the waters are concentrated by solar evaporation to yield solutions containing approx. 420 grams per liter, or 33% concentration. This concentrated liquid is then converted into pellets or flakes through a further heating process. The end-product contains approx. 47% magnesium chloride supplied as stable white flakes or pellets of consistent quality.

Magnesium chloride is used in a variety of applications, including the formulation of abrasives; the manufacture of Sorel cement for industrial (“spark-free”) flooring; as a catalyst in textile finishing processes; treatment of sewage and industrial effluents; special fertilizer mixtures; animal feed; deicing and dust control applications.
