BCA 13 is an effective bromine complexing agent for circulating bromine-based batteries. When in a liquid polybromide phase, the Bromine Complexing Agent (BCA) provides safe operation since it is formed between BCA 13 and Br2. Polybromide complexes can be stored in external storage tanks, which significantly decreases battery self-discharge rates.
